It is really heart wrenching to imagine how the lives of mentally retarded children will be, once they lose their parents. Indeed, mental retardation is not even genetically driven in myriad cases.
Many MR children (also called Special Children) have bureaucrats, ministers, doctors, police officers and businessmen as their parents. And it is countless to say how many mentally retarded children have financially poor parents. But the challenge is common for all such children once they lose their parents.
To fill this gap, Yogsan, an ashram for such kids has been running in Secunderabad. The parents of special children will be members in this and even the donors can extend their helping hands. The website www.yogsan.in was launched recently by Mr JK Rao, President, National Association for Blind and www.pamencap.in by Mrs. Gool R Plumber, Hon. General Secretary, A P A W M R (Andhra Pradesh Association For The Welfare Of Mentally Retarded Persons).
Vakkantham Chandramouli, the renowned Astrologer in Andhra Pradesh graced the occasion and said, "Manu Smrithi says 'daana dharmam viveshetha nityam aishtika pourthikam..parithushtena bhaavena..paatramaasaadya shakthitha'. One has to do two types of daanaas. One is relating to god, temple and religion while the other is relating to Orphanages, Diseased and Poor. Yogsan that is being run by Pamencap, is an opportunity to fulfill the purpose of lives by serving the Special Children those are ill. As Ramakrishna Paramahamsa said, 'rogi devo bhava, moorkha devo bhava, daridra devo bhava', it's time to realize it. Let us serve these special kids as we serve God with devotion".
