Bangalore: The Hyderabad Indian Premier League team, formerly the Deccan Chargers, will be known as the Sun Risers from the 2013 season of the tournament, said Sun TV Network, the new owners of the franchise.
The Kalanithi Maran-owned group made the announcement in Chennai on Tuesday (December 18). The official unveiling of the logo will be done in Hyderabad on Thursday (December 20).
Sun TV Network had won the Hyderabad franchise of the IPL for an amount of Rs 85.05 crores per year earlier in the year.
The BCCI had floated the tenders for a new IPL franchise after the termination of Deccan Chargers` contract on September 15.
