H1B Lottery Results, OPT students in limbo

USCIS received more than 200K H-1B petitions in 5 days this cap season, out of which 85K would be accepted. After running both Regular Cap and Master’s Cap lottery, USCIS had begun issuing receipt notices.

If this year is like previous years, this process will continue into June, and it will take longer for USCIS to return rejected petitions.

According to USCIS, it will begin premium processing for FY 2020 cap-subject H-1B petitions requesting a change in status starting May 20th and either an approval or a request for additional evidence (RFE) should be mailed out by June 4th for premium processing cases.

In the meantime, F-1 students and others seeking a first-time H-1B are in limbo awaiting their fate and anticipating receipts, approval notices or RFE for H-1B cap petitions.

As done every year USCIS start sending receipt notices to selected H1B stake holders however there is no transparency on how fast these applications are being processed.
