Flash News: Chiranjeevi's Father Expired

Telugu matinee idol Chiranjeevi's father Venkat Rao passed away after a brief illness here on Monday.

Rao, 76, died at his residence in posh Jubilee Hills area at 0600 hrs, Chiranjeevi's younger brother Nagendra Babu told reporters.

Rao had been suffering from a heart-related ailment for a few months and underwent treatment at a corporate hospital.

He worked in the Excise department of the Andhra Pradesh government and retired as a superintendent at Nellore. Rao also acted in a few films.

He is survived by three sons and two daughters. Chiranjeevi, the eldest, Nagendra Babu, a noted producer, and actor Pavan Kalyan.

Several prominent film personalities from Telugu film industry and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu visited Chiranjeevi's home and paid last respects to the departed soul.

Naidu described Rao as an ideal father who supported Chiranjeevi throughout his career.

Nagendra Babu thanked all those who visited them. Cremation would be held here this evening.
