
The North America Telugu Society (NATS) came up with an event much to the delight of the Telugu crowds. They gave away the prestigious Lifetime Achievement awards and the venue for that was the famous Ravindra Bharathi auditorium on 29th. The chief guest for the event was Nadendla Manohar, deputy speaker along with RV Ramana Murthy, Banda Karthika Reddy and special invitees such as Dr Varaprasad Reddy, Dr Guruva Reddy, Thammareddy Bharadwaja, Kota Srinivasa Rao and Saripalli Kondala Rao.
Six famous personalities were chosen to receive the lifetime achievement awards. They are Dr C Narayana Reddy, Dr N. Chinasatyanarayana, Dr Ramanaidu, Dr Nerella Venu Madhav, Dr Sreeramulu, Dr Uma Ramarao. The event also had cultural programs such as dance by Jayalakshmi, ‘Vibhaavari’ from Geeta Madhuri, Vasanth and team. A special program by Krishnudu of ‘Vinayakudu’ fame was another highlight.
The other celebrities who took part in NATS Kick Off Party at Film Nagar Club on 28th night were Mayor B Kartika Reddy, Murali Mohan, Ashwini Dutt, Tammareddy Bharadwaja, KL Narayana, KC Sekhar Babu, Mt Opera Chowdary, Nekkanti Surya Narayana, Director L Sreenath Babu of ‘Kubusam’, Radio Jockey Ujwal, Padmashri Dr Lavu Narendranath, Sarepalli Kondala Rao, Delhi Academy Nagaraju, Ghantasala Rathna Kumar, Vandemataram Srinivas, Delhi Rajeshwari, Sowmya Roy, Usha, writer C S Rao, Lyricists Suddala Ashok Teja, Sira Sri; Flute Nagaraju, singers Sri Krishna, Sai Shivani, Saandeep, Geeta Madhuri, comedians Gowtham Raju, Nalla Venu; Kota Shankar Rao, Vasi Raju Prakasam, Rajitha, Gurava Reddy, P Sambasiva Rao, Dr Vegesna Varma of Lazarus Hospitals, Shanta Biotech Vara Prasada Reddy etc.
All this was a prelude to the Telugu Sambaraalu which is scheduled to happen in July 1,2,3 at Edison, New Jersey in the US. Meanwhile, the event here was compeered by Ghazal Srinivas and it was presided by directors of NATS, Dr Madhu Korapati, Vallabhaneni Yugandhar Rao, Raj Alladi, Prasanna Kumar Kota, Achanta Gopi, Adusumilli Rateesh and Dr Parimi.
The slogan for the event was ‘bhashe ramyam seve gamyam’ and the noted singer Ghazal Srinivas is the Cultural Ambassador for NATS. Referring to Ghazal Srinivas, Dr Madhu Korrapati said that the maestro has traveled across the world spreading peace and a Telugu man becoming a world peace ambassador is a proud achievement. He expressed his pride for Ghazal Srinivas associating with NATS.
The other highlight of the event was the presence of a lady Manjusha. She hails from Tirupathi, Kennedy Nagar area and she runs an old age home with the name ‘SEVA’. Manjusha works as a lecturer and she is using 3/4th of her salary for running ‘SEVA’. On this event, Dr Madhu gave Rs 1 lakh on behalf of NATS to Manjusha and this was done through the hands of Varaprasad Reddy of Shanta Biotech. Dr Vara Prasad Reddy also gave Rs 1 Lakh cheque on his behalf who said the philanthropists like Manjusha are right inspiration for Telugus and mankind on a whole.
Overall, it was an evening filled with wisdom, entertainment, knowledge sharing and above all, a fine blend of our Telugu culture.
