Police solved the sensational murder case of 29-year-old UK-educated engineer and arrested his uncle on Tuesday.
The deceased was K Rakesh Reddy, 29, from Srinvasanagar Colony in Nagaram. On September 23, Rakesh was found stabbed to death at a flat near Saketh Towers in Kapra.
Software professional Rakesh Reddy’s farmer uncle Sridhar Reddy, facing a financial crisis, has been identified as the man behind the youth’s brutal murder.
The uncle first staged a fake kidnap, but later thought it would backfire on him and killed Rakesh, police said. He is under arrest.
A few hours before the body was traced by police and family members, Rakesh's father Bal Reddy received anonymous text messages from his son's phone stating that he was kidnapped and Rs eight lakh ransom was to be paid for his safe release.
Rakesh’s body was recovered from an apartment owned by a distant relative. He recently returned to India and was searching for a job.
He was under depression due to which he maintained a distance with his family members. He was staying with his relative Harish Reddy in his flat.
On the night of the murder, Harish Reddy was in Anantapur for some work. His uncle Sridhar came stayed with him.
As Rakesh was sleeping, Sridhar sent SMSes from Rakesh’s mobile to his father, Balreddy, saying that his son was kidnapped.
He also tried to link it to a dispute Rakesh’s family had with his sister’s in-laws. When family members started calling Rakesh continuously, Sridhar got scared and killed Rakesh.
