Media started calling it ‘Mining Mafia’. Yes, we are talking about Obulapuram Mining issue that has become the hottest topic for all. Now the business barons have coined the term ‘Media Mafia’. They say that media is coming out from its responsibility and making it a big issue projecting OMC in the magnifying lens. While the society has got many problems, the responsible media is showing its sheep mentality by just going along with the herd. Instead of pressurizing the government on useful things, media is focusing more on useless side.
On the other hand the new CM Rosiah is getting perturbed by this entire episode, as per inside sources. Should he look after the campaigning support for GHMC elections? Should he concentrate on health issues of people those are breathing last with Swine Flu and Dengue? Or should he look into the matter of OMC? Sane people may say that an able CM should be capable of handling all the issues in multi tasking.
But how far it is important to make OMC a big issue at this juncture?
OMC can result in Brahmani steels and gives employment for hundreds of unemployed youth. OMC is growing as a strong business center in AP that raises the land value surrounding it. OMC, if establishes Brahmani steels may stand as a pride of South India in near future conferring huge employment to society. Even though the government takes it into its fold, the growth wouldn’t be fast and there are many examples for it. Sane people may say ‘No’. They may say ‘There may be flaws in its evolution’. Some have asked me why Margadarsi was troubled by Undavalli Arun Kumar in YSR’s reign. There is a catch here. Margadarsi has got the Crores of direct money from the life time savings of lakhs of middle and below middle class people. Margadarsi also has flaws in its evolution and hence the government got worried and concerned when the issue was raised by an MP. OMC is quite different from Margadarsi, looking at that.
On a whole, media should focus on various other important things and not just on OMC from morning till evening every day.
Keeping this entire stuff aside Andhra Jothy Radha Krishna always raised finger on Sakshi when it was initiated. He said that Jagan was establishing that channel with money earned through frauds. If that was the case, when Radha Krishna, who used to ride cycle on roads can become the owner of a News Daily and now the TV channel, can’t a CM’s son do that? The responsibility of the print and electronic media is not to cry on one another. There is bigger responsibility for everyone. Where are we heading? That should be introspected.
