Celebrating Legacy And Life Of YSR

Celebrating Legacy And Life Of YSR

It’s hard to understand and seems surreal that our favorite leader YS Rajasekhar Reddy had lost his life in an accident and is no longer with us today. He was ready to reign for the next five year and years after but the fate had been cruel to us.  It’s even harder for the masses of Andhra Pradesh to digest the fact that their brother, father, son like YSR was taken away by the cruel fate.  It’s like the sun went down at dusk and never would rise again.  YSR walked in and out of our lives leaving fondest memories. He was a great warrior and endeared us with his fighting spirit and great smile, even in the worst of the situations. He was the greatest leader of the masses and will be remembered by one and all for generations to come. Even though he left us physically, he remains forever deeply etched in our memories, lives and thoughts. A day would not go by for most of without a thought of this great man and a tear falling from our eyes.  We, the ardent followers and fans of YSR should celebrate the life of the great YSR every year on his Jayanthi (July 8th) all across the US and other countries, where ever Telugus exist.

As it would be difficult for us in the foreign lands to celebrate on the same day for work reasons, we should devote the second Saturday of every July for to celebrate the life of YSR with our families in a public park like setting as a picnic. This makes our great leader in the heaven proud, as he always valued his family and friends beyond any stretch of imagination.

First, we should form local city coordination committees in the size of five to nice and distribute the activities among us. One can be the coordinator overseeing all the activities. Women and kids should have their own activities and we should all help set them up.  The main activities involve

  1. Invitations to all the YSR followers (Sakshi TV, TV9, NTV and GreatAndhra promised to help us propagate the message)
  2. Selecting an appropriate park for the expected crowd and decoration of a small area with YSR pictures
  3. Planning activities for the children like games and sports competitions
  4. Planning activities for the women like Anthyakshari
  5. Planning appropriate cultural programs like YSR related live and recorded music from local singers and a brief introduction from one local eminent and ardent YSR follower
  6. Soft drinks, supplies and food from a local restaurant
  7. Reception and Parking overseeing.
  8. Red Cross or a local hospital blood donation camp.

All these activities from can be distributed among the committee members and volunteers. The expenses can be shared equally among a group of 10 to 15 of the most ardent followers. It’s going to be an easy, fun filling and enjoyable day for all of us. This will reverberate across the great State of Andhra Pradesh.

The cities that are already planning to celebrate YSR Jayanthi are Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New Jersey, Philadelphia/Delaware, Washington DC/Virginia/Maryland, Boston, Bay Area, St Louis, and Florida. We should also celebrate in New York, Chicago, Detroit, Denver, Houston, Charlotte, Raleigh, and other cities.
