BJP asks UPA ensure Telugu youths' safety in US

Hyderabad (PTI): Condemning the killing of a Telugu engineer in United States, BJP Andhra Pradesh unit today asked the UPA government to mount pressure on US to take effective measures ensuring the safety of youths belonging to Andhra Pradesh there.

The party's state President Bandaru Dattatreya along with former Union Minister Ch Vidyasagar Rao visited the residence of Laxaman Murthy, father of Askhay Vishal (26) at Begumpet and expressed their deep condolence.

Vishal, who was working with scam-hit Satyam Computer Services, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Arkansas in the US on Tuesday.

His father is Deputy General Manager (Finance) with BSNL here.

Later, speaking to media the BJP leaders said the Centre should mount pressure on the US government to take immediate measures to prevent occurances of such incidents.

It was unfortunate that youths belonging to Andhra Pradesh were being targetted and such incidents create fear and concern in the minds of the parents whose dear-ones are living in US, Dattatreya said.

Instead of helping to bring dead bodies from abroad, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy should use his good offices and appraise the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to ensure the safety of Andhra youths in US, the BJP leader said.
