Behind The Scene: 'Satyam' supermarket!

Yes you read that right. And no, Mahindra Satyam is not venturing into the retail sector. As it turns out, eight apartments owned by aides of Ramalinga Raju in the ‘Satyam block’ of Ramaraju Nagar in Medchal that were raided by CID sleuths after Raju’s confession last year are now being used for, well, selling soaps and pulses.

A little birdie at Ramaraju Nagar tells us that the eight apartments, which were in the prescam days used for putting up EMRI trainees (and, as sleuths suspected, to hide crucial documents) have now been converted into a sprawling supermarket, selling groceries and fresh vegetables. The apartments, we are told, now sport ‘Spencer’ brand and the outlet is becoming popular among local residents. Now who would have thought that the closets once used to possibly hide papers of a multi-crore scam are now being brought to a rather non-exciting pedestrian use: to store milk and eggs. Such are times.
