Behind The Scene: Pub's Sankranti invite!

This Sankranti saw SMSes of a different kind doing the rounds. Messages sent by a plush city pub, Bottles and Chimneys, kept beeping on cellphones through the day, asking its regulars to hit the bar counters that night. Sankranti being a Thursday meant a ladies' night at the popular pub, which was clearly going out of its way on Sankranti day to fill in the bar counter, with many people abstaining from alcohol on the auspicious day. Though Hyderabad's female population of alcohol enthusiasts are used to receiving such SMSes through the week from various city pubs, the constant messaging from B&C left many wondering whether it was a network problem or a desperate invitation (well, some ladies even received 15 or more of these 'please come' messages).
