
San Francisco, CA: About 500 Telugu NRIs have met today in San Francisco bay area,California and adopted anonymous resolution in favor of Samaikya Andhra Pradesh. The participants hail from all regions of Andhra Pradesh – Telangana, Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema. Speaker after speaker strongly condemned the nefarious acts of opportunistic politicians to divide the progressing state in the name of backwardness of the region. They felt that the past experiences have indicated smaller states are not solution to address the issue of backwardness. For instance Chattisgarh, Jharkhand ,Uttaranchal states were formed in November 2000 and those states still remain backward. The issue of backwardness in several parts of Andhra Pradesh including Telengana region should be addressed by setting up autonomous councils and devolution of powers to lowest levels, rather than breaking up the state. Every speaker stressed the need for Samaikyandhra Pradesh and the development of the state as a whole which inturn helps improve the life of a common man.
Hyderabad has achieved significant progress in IT and other industries in the past 10 years. Hyderabad does belong to all regions of Andhra ,Telangana and Rayalaseema.
All prominent education institutions and universities such as the upcoming IIT, NIT, BITS, ISB, IIIT, Central University and several Central Govt. research organizations have been setup in and around Hyderabad. The Cultural, Social and Economic dynamics of Hyderabad reflect the sentiments and aspirations of the people from all regions of the state and every person from the state feels that he/she is Hyderabadi.
The linguistic states formation is the result of sacrifices made by selfless leaders like Late Sri Potti Sriramulu. Speakers reminded that we should not forget those sacrifices and allow the opportunistic politicians to drive wedge among telugus to further their own agendas. Speakers also condemned these opportunists in making use of student community for their selfish cause.
The announcement made by Home minister Chidambaram in hastiness at midnight without taking consideration of people’s mandate including the state chief minister was condemned by the gathering. Speakers have expressed concern that the division of the state would weaken the leverage of the Andhra Pradesh at the federal level, which directly impacts the development.
