AP Talk: Growing Lifetime Bachelors

The elders and wise men believe that a man’s life is complete only when he goes through the stages of marriage, children. Conventionally the system has been that men tend to get married once they cross 27 years and 32 is the borderline they can stretch. While this has been the criteria set by the elders, the new age generation and the changes in society has also changed the mindsets of many individuals and their stand towards marriage.

A recent survey revealed that there has been a significant increase in the number of bachelors in Andhra Pradesh. And a good percentage of them seem to be keen on remaining bachelors for the rest of their lives. Of course, the factors for such decisions are many. The key factor for such decisions is the lack of brides for the boys and those who are ready to get married come up with a list of conditions which brings sweat and shivers to the bachelor boys.

On the other hand, it is not a matter of choice but compulsion that some bachelors become permanently like that. And then there is another group which simply doesn’t believe in the institution of marriage. They are opting for short term live-in relationships and keep changing their partners from time to time. Few other boys say marriage is more of a responsibility and importantly, it is a restriction to their freedom and independence which is very important for them.

The pressures of modern life, the demands of the eligible brides, the external factors like horoscope mismatch, compatibility issues, societal status, caste and creed also play a key role in increasing the number of lifetime bachelors. However, the relationship experts also mention that by choosing to be a bachelor, a man tends to become a social introvert and it leads to very hostile behaviour. It is not just about the relationship with life partner but any form of relationship survives only on love and trust. So, if looked at the right way, maybe this graph of lifetime bachelors can be brought down.
