
Immadi Prudhvi Tej, a student of Sri Chaitanya, bagged the first rank in the IIT-JEE 2011. Narayana students V. Shaimak Reddy and Burle Sai Kiran, grabbed the third and fourth ranks respectively.
Narayana student Kunal Chawla was ranked sixth, while Sri Chaitanya students T. Bhargava Reddy and J. Varun secured eighth and ninth rank respectively.
Narayana student Rama Krishna Banot and Sri Chaitanya student J. Varun were ranked first in the ST and OBC categories respectively at the all-India level.
As many as 62,880 students appeared for the JEE from IIT-Madras zone this year and 3,126 were declared qualified. Preliminary reports indicate that of these, nearly 2,400 are from Andhra Pradesh, which means that for every four students admitted in the IITs this year, one will be from Andhra Pradesh. So 25 per cent of the total 9,618 seats available in the IITs have been bagged by a student from AP.
Altogether, 4,68,240 candidates appeared for JEE-2011, which was conducted by seven of the IITs on April 10, 2011. This year, 1,08,647 girls appeared for the JEE out of which 1,491 have qualified. All the 17 institutes will admit OBC/SC/ST/PD students through the JEE with relaxed criteria.
