Politics behind Naidu blaming YSR for Alipiri attack!

The brazen allegation made by Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu that former Chief Minister late Y S Rajasekhar Reddy had conspired to kill him by extending support to Maoists who made an attempt on his life at Alipiri, the foot hills of Tirumala, on October 2, 2003, raised many eyebrow.

Perhaps it was the first time that Naidu had directly blamed YSR for conspiring to kill him. Talking to some media persons in Amaravati on Tuesday, he alleged that it was YSR who extended all the logistic support such as mobile phones and funds to Maoists through his supporter Gangi Reddy for killing him.

Naidu also alleged that YSR, after becoming the chief minister of AP, tried to weaken his security cover by denying accommodation facility to the special protection group (SPG) commandos.

“I did not lose my cool when Jagan’s father conspired to kill me. Jagan’s talk inciting violence only exposes hallow leadership in his party,” the CM said.

One wonders why Naidu had kept silent in the last 14 years over the YSR’s role on the Maoists’ attack on him at Alipiri.

He made these comments while referring to YSR’s son and Opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s statement that Naidu should be shot dead in public for cheating the people with false promises.

Obviously, Naidu wanted to gain political mileage by projecting that Jagan was an out and out criminal like his father.

While YSR extended support to Maoists to kill Naidu, Jagan is directly asking people to shoot him down on streets.

Needless to say, Naidu wants to carry the message among the voters of Nandyal that Jagan had a criminal brain.

“One can imagine the plight of the state if such leaders are voted to power,” he observed.
