YSRC Not To Ignore Special Category Status!

YSRC Not To Ignore Special Category Status!

YSR Congress party will raise people’s issues including stringent action against defectors and Special Category Status (SCS) in the monsoon session of Parliament beginning July 17.

This was decided at the YSRC parliamentary party meeting chaired by its president YS Jaganmohan Reddy at the Lotus Pond office on Saturday to discuss the strategy to be adopted during the session.

Party MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy said the party would raise the difficulties being faced by small traders, weavers and others in wake of the GST and also focus on Special Category Status (SCS) and Railway Zone for Visakhapatnam. This apart they would also highlight the assurances given during the division of the State.

Farmers’ issues, Polavaram and other aspects would also be brought to the notice of the House during the session. We will also press for a discussion on the Private Member’s Bill on the issue as SCS is the right of the five crore people of the state, he said.

“We will also raise the issue of defections and stress the need to bring in more stringent clauses for elected representatives crossing over to other parties and bringing in clear provisions directly disqualifying the members who defect to other parties.

The party has already appealed to the Centre to exempt handloom and textile goods from GST and we will raise the issue as well, Mekapati," said.
