YSRC MLAs oppose notice against Speaker

YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy who had declared that he would issue a no-confidence motion notice against Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao for favouring the ruling TDP, had to backtrack on the move, following opposition from his own party MLAs.

Soon after walking out of the House in protest against the killings of his party leaders across the State, Jagan held a meeting with his party MLAs and discussed the proposal to move a no-confidence motion against Speaker.

However, several MLAs reportedly told him that it would be too early to do that and the party would lose its credibility among people, if the motion is lost. So, Jagan had no option but to drop the proposal.

Earlyer, YSRC MLAs staged a walkout from the House alleging their voice was being suppressed. They also staged a dharna outside the assembly. They accused Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasad Rao of acting in a partisan manner.

Jagan alleged that the Speaker was giving more opportunities for the ruling party members.

"When we wanted to raise the issue of the spate of murders of YSRCP activists post elections, the speaker gave an opportunity to TDP MLA G Butchaiah Chowdary to speak innuendo and peddle misinformation," he alleged.
