The TDP government has threatened to invoke the land acquisition act against all farmers unwilling to part with their lands in the new capital region.
Recently, the High Court issued a judgment that farmers not interested in land pooling scheme of government can happily till their lands. But if the land acquisition act is invoked or the new land bill is passed in Parliament, then the judiciary cannot save the farmers.
Meanwhile, angry at the verdict against them, the TDP has accused the Opposition Parties of misleading the farmers for political gains. That is true.
Political parties and for that matter, any political party would tend to reap benefits from any issue. But what political parties do Medha Patkar and Anna Hazare belong to?
Have they not spoken out against the acquisition of land? 38000 acres of fertile, multi-crop lands is not a joke! It will destroy the food security for the region.
