Venkaiah as VP: Naidu is worried!

The reports that the Bharatiya Janata Party top leadership has decided to nominate union minister for information and broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu as the NDA candidate for the Vice President of India post has sent panic waves among the Telugu Desam Party.

Particularly, for TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, it must be a big shock, as Venkaiah has been his virtual right hand.

It was Venkaiah who has been preventing the split in the TDP-BJP alliance and has been resisting the attempts of the state BJP leaders to cut off the ties with the TDP.

Even for the next elections, too, Naidu is banking on Venkaiah for continuing the alliance with the BJP, since he knows without the BJP support, the TDP cannot win the elections on its own.

So, it is necessary for Naidu to Venkaiah to continue in active politics, rather than being confined to the four walls of Rastrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi.

And there is also another danger for Naidu. Once Venkaiah becomes the Vice President, decks would be cleared for the YSR Congress party to forge an alliance with the BJP.

As long as Venkaiah is in active politics, he will not allow the BJP to cut off ties with the TDP. Once he becomes the Vice President, the anti-TDP forces in the BJP like D Purandeshwari, Kanna Lakshminarayana and Kavuri Sambasiva Rao would prevail upon national BJP president Amit Shah to sever ties with the TDP and join hands with the YSRC!
