Shilpa brother skips Naidu's tour: What's up?

The ruling Telugu Desam Party appears to be facing a very uncomfortable situation in Nandyal, which is going for by-elections shortly.

After the exit of former minister Shilpa Mohan Reddy from the TDP to join the YSR Congress party, there is an uneasy calm in the party.

His brother Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy is still continuing in the TDP, but the latter, too, seems to be not happy with the style of functioning of young Allagadda MLA and Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya, who is virtually dominating the party politics in Nandyal.

Under these circumstances, Chakrapani conveniently abstained from the party activities when TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu visited Nandyal as part of launching various developmental works in the run-up to the by-elections.

This has raised many eyebrows and made the party leaders wonder whether Chakrapani, too, would be jumping the fence into the YSR Congress party sooner or later.

Several senior TDP leaders are said to be terribly upset with Akhila Priya, who has not been take them into confidence in the Nandyal by-elections.

Under these circumstances, it will be a big loss to not only the Bhuma family, but also the entire TDP if Chakrapani also quits the party before the by-elections.

And ultimately, it will have major impact on the TDP in the next elections as well!
