If the TRS expected a battery of D Srinivas loyalists to follow in his footsteps and join the TRS, they were in for a rude shock.
The majority of followers of Srinivas, some of them who have travelled with him for nearly 20 years have decided to stay put with the Congress.
Says one aide of DS, “I have been with him for nearly 20 years. But I will not join the TRS. Srinivas has criticized KCR on many occasions.
But now he says KCR is responsible for Telangana. In fact it is KCR who betrayed the Congress.
Did he not promise to merge his Party with the Congress once Telangana was formed? Did he not promise to make a Dalit the CM? All of KCR’s efforts would have been in vain but for Sonia Gandhi’s decision to carve out a separate State.
And today, we cannot digest the fact that he is bidding farewell to the very Party that has given him such respect in his career.”
