Naidu Heading All-Party Cabinet!

Naidu Heading All-Party Cabinet!

We have heard of all-party meetings conducted by the governments, which invite representatives of all political parties in the assembly for deliberations before taking crucial decisions on issues of public importance.

But for the first time, the Telugu Desam Party government headed by Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has an all-party cabinet with members belonging to all the political parties that have representation in the assembly.

Already, Naidu has two ministers belonging to Bharatiya Janata Party in his cabinet – Endowments Minister P Manikyala Rao and Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas.

On Sunday, Naidu has inducted four MLAs belonging to the YSR Congress party – Sujaya Venkata Krishna Ranga Rao, N Amarnath Reddy, Ch Adinarayan Reddy and Bhuma Akhila Priya – into his cabinet. Since they have not resigned from YSRC before joining the TDP, they continue to be the YSRC members as per the assembly records.

It means, Naidu has members of the BJP and also YSRC in the cabinet. Since there is no other political party in the assembly, one can say Naidu is heading an all-party cabinet.

So, he doesn’t have to call for all party meetings hereafter, since his cabinet has members of all the parties in the assembly!
