Mudragada Mellows Down?

Mudragada Mellows Down?

The violent incidents that had taken place at Kapu garjana rally held at Tuni in East Godavari district on Sunday last has landed the Kapu strongman Mudragada Padmanabham in deep trouble.

Though he tried to throw the blame on the Telugu Desam Party for the violent incidents, the police had gathered concrete evidences to prove that the anti-social elements that resorted to violence at the rally were indeed the followers of Mudragada.

The police had filed several cases in the episode making him the accused no. 1. While the YSR Congress party leadership is trying to distance itself from the violence as it would complicate matters for Jaganmohan Reddy, the other party leaders too tried to wash off their hands, stating that the violence should have been avoided.

Now, Mudragada is left alone. While he announced that he and his wife would go ahead with the indefinite fast from February 5, he is making efforts to wriggle out of the crisis by toning down the agitation in the wake of Kapu leaders falling in line with the strategy adopted by AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

He has softened his stand now, saying that he was open for negotiations and dialogue with the government representatives on withdrawing the agitation.

Initially, Mudragada was insisting that he would not accept any Commission reports and that the government should issue GO in Kapu quota immediately.

Now, he is saying he has no objection if the Manjunatha Commission speeds up its study and submits the report within three to four months.

He also says he would withdraw the agitation if the government releases Rs 2,000 crore to the Kapu Commission as was promised by Naidu. Indications that Mudragada is ready for a compromise with the Naidu government.
