Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has once again proved that he is much smarter than his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu.
This was evident from the way KCR government increased power tariff for domestic consumers within a couple of hours after the conclusion of the Telangana budget session, imposing a burden of nearly Rs 800 crore on the consumers. The government announced that all the consumers who use over 200 units of power every month would have to bear the hike to the extent of nearly 5 per cent.
In fact, the tariff proposals were readied a couple of days ago itself, but the KCR government did not want it to become an issue to be discussed in the Assembly as the Opposition parties would definitely raise a hue and cry. So, the Chief Minister waited for the Assembly session to end to make the announcement.
On the other hand, Chandrababu Naidu government also increased the power tariff, but the announcement came at a time when the budget session was going on. And the Opposition parties took Naidu to task and he had to make a statement in the House to defend the hike, but it had already sent the wrong message among the people.
