Telangana Rashtra Samithi president, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to have set his eyes on prime land in and around Hyderabad, apparently to make big money.
According to highly placed sources, KCR is planning to bring pressure on the Centre to shift the Cantonment areas within Hyderabad to the outskirts of the city and take over those prime lands.
He is likely to meet Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday and request him to hand over the Secunderabad Cantonment lands and also the prime lands at Golkonda to the State government. In return, the State government would allocate huge area of land to the military outfits on the outskirts all around the city.
The argument of the TRS chief is that the present Cantonment areas were created when the city was small and the population was less. Now, that the city is expanding fast all over, the Cantonment areas have now come into the middle of the city. This is causing inconvenience not only to the people but also the military.
So, the best way is to push the military to the outskirts. This will help KCR to get hold over prime city properties, which would fetch huge revenue to the State!
