Known for her aggressive posture and fiery comments, firebrand YSR Congress party MLA R K Roja has been maintaining stoic silence for the last two days, ever since the Andhra Pradesh assembly privileges committee submitted its report to Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao.
According to highly placed sources, Roja received a dressing down from YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy a couple of days ago for submitting a letter to the privileges committee during its hearings a few months ago, stating that she was ready to tender open apology to Telugu Desam Party MLA from Payakaraopet V Anitha, if the latter felt hurt for her comments made during the discussion on call money racket. In her letter, she expressed regrets over her behavior.
Now, the TDP legislators are equipped with this letter and are demanding that Roja should tender unconditional apology in the floor of the House. This has angered Jagan, who called Roja and pulled her up for submitting the letter without his consent.
“Who asked you to submit the letter? If you are forced to tender apology, it is an insult to me and the party,” Jagan shouted at her.
Roja is learnt to have tried to give an explanation that party seniors – Ummareddy Venkateshwarlu and V Vijay Sai Reddy, had advised her in drafting the letter like that and giving it to the privileges committee.
She reminded that they had even accompanied her to the assembly when she submitted the letter. A terribly upset Jagan asked her to be silent and said he would handle the issue when the issue of suspension comes up in the assembly.
That is the reason why Roja did not come to the assembly on Thursday and remained silent on Friday, too.
