Defections To Prevent No-Trust Move?

Defections To Prevent No-Trust Move?

Why is Telugu Desam Party supremo, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is so eager to “lure” as many YSR Congress party MLAs as possible at the earliest?

According to sources in the party, Naidu is in a hurry to split the YSR Congress party only to pre-empt it from moving a no-confidence motion against Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao.

Sources said Naidu had got specific information that YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is contemplating the no-trust motion against Kodela during the forthcoming budget session on the issue of suspension of his party MLA R K Roja and discrimination meted out to the Opposition.

He requires at least 50 MLAs to force a discussion on the no-confidence motion. Though his party might not win the motion, it would enable Jagan and his company to expose Kodela, thereby getting a lot of political mileage.

This would definitely be an insult to Naidu. Initially, he did not attach much attention to the no-trust motion, but after realising the political fallout of it, he started moving his pawns and attracting the YSR Congress party MLAs.

Most of the MLAs, as Jagan alleged, are falling in the money trap as they are not able to make any money in the last two years and they could not get any financial benefits from Jagan, who himself is in deep trouble.

So, if they join the ruling TDP now, they can get compensated for their election expenses and also get a chance to make big money in the coming three years. A few others like Bhuma Nagi Reddy are, however, lured with power and positions.

Sources said Naidu is aiming to attract at least 20 MLAs from YSR Congress party, so that it cannot move the no-trust motion.
