Chiru Skips Mudragada Meeting: What's Up?

The crucial meeting of Kapu joint action committee under the leadership of former minister Mudragada Padmanbham to decide on the future course of action was held in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Senior Kapu leaders like Dasari Narayana Rao, M M Pallam Raju, Ummareddy Venkateshwarlu and Ambati Rambabu attended the meeting to discuss the strategy as to how to bring pressure on Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to taker a decision on Kapu reservations.

The deadline fixed for Naidu to act on Kapu reservations ended by September; yet there is no announcement from the chief minister so far.

One person who was expected to give fillip to the demand for Kapu reservations but was conspicuous by his absence at Mudragada’s meeting was actor-turned-MP Chiranjeevi.

JAC leaders say he might have skipped the meeting because of his busy shooting schedule, but sources say the megastar wants to keep himself away from participating in the agitation openly because it would wean him away from other sections and that would have an impact on the success of his forthcoming film.

In the past, too, Chiranjeevi lent his support to the Kapu agitation, but did not participate in the movement directly. This time, he has decided against associating with Mudragada; may be, he has other political plans in the coming days, say sources.
