Ganta Srinivas Rao along with four other MLA’s from other parties was formally inducted into the TDP by Chandrababu Naidu at a public meeting in Vizag.
Ganta then gave a speech saying that he would work for the welfare of the TDP and would be happy with any position which Chandrababu entrusts him with. The speech was well received and Ganta sat down smiling.
Enter Ayyanna Patrudu, TDP politburo member to make his speech. He started off with the following lines: “Kothaga Partylo cherina vallaki china vinnapam. Gantako Party marchakunda, aidu samvatsaralu TDP lo vundi, kashtapadandi, Party kosam.” Translated, it goes, “My humble request to the new Members. Please do not change Parties every hour, but stay in the TDP and work for the welfare of the Party.”
Needless to say, this did not go down well with Ganta and the other MLA’s. a visibly upset Ganta was about to get up and go away but was prevailed upon by the other seniors on stage to stay.
For the record, Ayyanna Patrudu has been in the TDP since 1982 and he also declared on stage that he would die as a TDP worker. But poor Ganta! Definitely not an auspicious beginning for him!
