Is It Right To Make Comedies Out Of Classics?

One director had announced that he is making Lavukusa. Another director Kona Venkat has announced that he will be making Sankarabharanam. Now, both the names are highly successful classics of Telugu cinema and one is not too sure how good such a trend is.

While Lavakusa will star Varun Sandesh in the lead, Sankarabharanam will star Nikhil in the lead.

Goes without saying that both the classics hold a special place in the hearts of Telugu people and if their modern-day versions don’t live up to the expectations, then it is likely to impact the impression younger generation has of these classics.

Already, the makers of Lavakusa have released some hot stills for promotional activity.

As far as Sankarabharanam is concerned it is K Viswanath’s classic film that won a national award. The film was also dubbed into various languages and a digitized version has been recently released by Tamil industry.

Talk in Telugu industry is that Kona Venkat will be making a comedy thriller with Sankarabharanam.

While it might help them to promote their films, there is common opinion that using the names of classics for social films is a rather base idea.
