Spare A Thought For The Victims

Spare A Thought For The Victims

More than 100 personalities from different walks of life including Parliament MP’s have signed a petition for the commuting of the death sentence of Yakub Memon.

The enthusiasm being displayed by this bunch of people is not at all understandable. What facts do they have in their possession which the Supreme Court does not have which has allowed them to come to the conclusion that Yakub is not guilty?

In the first place, do they believe that Yakub is guilty or not? If he is guilty, surely he merits the death penalty. If he is not, then he should be acquitted. On what grounds are they pleading for a commutation of his sentence?

And what is the contribution of the people who have signed the petition, to the people of India? These people are so concerned about the plight of Yakub Memon.

Why don’t they spare a thought for the families of hundreds of innocent victims who lost their lives in the Mumbai bombings?

It is not surprising to see convicted criminals like Salman Khan speak out in defense of fellow convicts like Memon, but what has happened to the rest of the people who sign such petitions?
