Grand Arrangements are made for ATA - 2014

The American Telugu Association (ATA) welcomes all Telugus in the US during July 3rd - 5th to witness the grand celebrations at its 13th annual Conference and Youth Convention to be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

ATA is organizing this biennial event to celebrate the Telugu culture and language in our adopted land. Having known for its grand style of organizing excellent Telugu cultural, literary and entertainment events, ATA teamed up with the Telugu Association of Greater Delaware (TAGDV) to co-host the fun-filled and best-known Telugu conference in the United States. It is expected to attract 8,000 – 10,000 NRIs, besides representatives from India and a few other countries, particularly Canada and the UK.

ATA convened 50 committees for the sole purpose of making this grandiose event successful and memorable. These teams have been working tirelessly for the past nine months under the leadership of Conference Convener Parmesh Bheemreddy, Director Balwanth Kommidi and Co-Convener Bhuvanesh Bujala. Committees are putting the final touches to all preparations comprising cultural, spiritual, banquet, food, sports and literary segments that would appeal to all generations of Telugus migrated from India as well as the generations born and raised here in the US.

Celebrities like Miss USA Nina Davuluri, Executive Director of Select USA Vinay Thummalapally (who is a close confidant of President Obama) and Indian Ambassador S Jayashankar as well as government ministers from the Center and various Indian states are expected to attend the three-day event, which is already evoking great response from the half-a-million strong Telugus from across the US.

Various Telugu film personages are going to entertain the guests. The list includes but not limited to Rana Daggubati, Nithin, Shriya, Pranitha, Richa, Laya, Sonal Chauhan, Ankita, Rajendra Prasad and Sunil, Dil Raju, Sekhar Kammula, Sudha, Tammareddy Bhradwaja, Tanikella Bharani and Vamsi Paidipally.

ATA is privileged to be showcasing the final episode of the ETV-Paadutha Teeyaga season 2 competitions, which will be conducted on the main stage hosted by the legendary S.P Balasubrahmanyam. Apart from this, a musical extravaganza will be presented by such singers as P. Susheela, Mano, Hemachandra, Malavika, Sravana Bhargavi, Pranavi, Ramachary, Bapu Sastry and Vijayalakshmi. A special folk dance presentation is being organized by world famous folk artists Rama Rao Burugupalli and his group.

Well-known Telugu business executives all across the globe and famous spiritual gurus, Sri Vachanananda Swamiji and Swami Chidatmananda are expected to grace the occasion and give their valuable guidance and thoughts.

Literary legends like Garikapati Narasimha Rao, Jonnavithula, film writer Ananth Sriram, poet Acharya K. Venkata Reddy and writers Dr. Saradapurna Sonty and Satyam Upadrashta are going to attend the literary sessions.

Arrangements are made to treat guests with warm hospitality and serving authentic breakfast, lunch and dinner each day of the conference and the food would be mouthwatering from the first bite as it has been carefully selected to represent the various regions of Telangana, coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema.

Aside from cultural as well as health- and food-related programs, women’s activities have found place in the event. “Women’s Day is organized every year by ATA and it will be a signature event at the convention,” ATA Board of Trustees President Karunakar R Madhavaram said at an earlier program arranged by the Telugu body. There will be a special focus on “saamaajika seva” (social and charitable service) both in the US and India.

Details of programs and schedules are being finalized and available on the conference website. The event will be kicked off with a banquet on Thursday evening (July 3), where donors and various award winners will be honored.

Bheemreddy said: “US Telugus, particularly those local ones, are very much excited over the event. And we are looking forward to witnessing great participation of our community.”

Conference website contains all conference and hotel accommodation details. ATA hopes you to register ahead of time to get your registration package ready upon your arrival. On-site registration will be available; however ATA is anticipating a great number of attendees near the capacity which may make on-site registration a limited one.

ATA conference committee strongly encourages families to consider to be a donor which would not only give you tax deduction benefit but also gives you additional privileges including hotel accommodation, banquet tickets, special seating in dining halls as well as seating in the main hall for all events.
