Seers seeking land from KCR!

Apparently realising that Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is trying to prove himself to be a more hardcore Hindu, compared to the Sangh Parivar, several spiritual gurus have started running after him seeking doles.

Heads of various popular spiritual mutts from South India are understood to have approached the chief minister seeking land for setting up of their mathams at Yadadri, the abode of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy in Bhongir district.

According to reports, these peethadhipathis made a representation to Yadagirigutta Temple Development Authority (YTDA) for allotting them land on the hill for their mutts, as was done in Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateshwara in Chittoor district.

These religious heads are asking for land for conducting rituals and pujas, besides offering accommodation and food to the devotees.

Some of those who made a representation to the government include Sri Sringeri Saradha Mutt, Uttaradi Mutt, Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt and others.

But the decision to allot the land will have to be taken by the government, a senior official said.

These seers were attracted by two acres of land allotted to Sri Sarada Peetham seer Swamy Swaroopanandendra at Kokapet at a nominal cost of Rs 1 per acre. They thought they too could put forth their plea for land allotment.

“Since KCR is very spiritual, he might not reject their demand,” he said.
