No question of returning to BRS, says Kavitha

Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Sunday asserted that there was no question of returning to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, which she had quit a couple months ago, even if her father and party president K Chandrasekhar Rao asks her to come back.

“I shall go and meet KCR as a daughter, but not as a former leader of the party. I have no political connections with the BRS anymore,” Kavitha declared, while speaking to reporters in Warangal.

On her expulsion from the BRS, she said she was ousted humiliatingly without even a show-cause notice, adding that while she could endure hunger, she would not tolerate humiliation.

Kavitha accused the previous BRS regime of confining her politically to Nizamabad under the guise of “protocol,” despite her pivotal role in the Telangana movement.

She declared that she will “show how women can do politics,” vowing to build a corruption-free, inclusive Telangana that belongs to all sections of society.

The former Nizamabad MP and suspended BRS leader said she was not immediately entering politics but would fight for public issues before contesting again in the future.

“I will do politics, but only at the right time. In the final year before elections, I’ll show how it looks when women take up politics seriously,” Kavitha said, asserting, “I’ll do politics perfectly and show how daughters can lead.”

She launched a strong attack on the previous BRS government, alleging massive corruption in the Warangal Super Speciality Hospital project.

She said the project cost was inflated from Rs 1,100 crore to Rs 1,700 crore and that the contract was handed over to a benami firm linked to former BRS minister Harish Rao.

She demanded a vigilance inquiry and punitive action against those responsible.

Kavitha further stated that Telangana should be “a state for all, not for a few”, and called for student union elections to promote new leadership.

“Otherwise, politics will remain limited to politicians’ children and relatives,” she said.

She also announced that Telangana Jagruthi would be reorganized strongly and that after completing her tours of five districts, she would release an Action Taken Report on the issues raised.
