Marri sings Komatireddy tune, blasts Cong leadership

The simmering discontent in the Telangana Congress party that has erupted following the resignation of Munugode MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy from the party and assembly membership has reached a new high on Wednesday.

Another senior Congress leader and former minister Marri Shashidhar Reddy raised a banner of revolt against the party leadership, saying the party has no future in Telangana, if the same situation continues.

Stating that he was fed up with the style of functioning of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), Shashidhar Reddy said he strongly believed the allegation made by Komatireddy brothers that the PCC chief post was sold out.

Without taking the name of PCC chief A Revanth Reddy, the former minister said there was every reason to believe that the PCC chief had bought the post by paying money to the high command.

He found fault with the Congress leaders to make unsavoury comments against Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy. “How can we be referred to as home guards?” he asked.

Shashidhar Reddy asserted that whatever Rajagopal Reddy and Dasoju Sravan had said about the PCC leadership was absolutely true.

“The PCC chief, AICC in-charge Manickam Tagore and CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka are conspiring to damage the party,” he said.

He alleged that the State Congress leaders for misleading the high command in New Delhi.

In an oblique reference to the PCC president A Revanth Reddy, he said a separate office was running parallel to the Gandhi Bhavan and accordingly reports were sent to the party high command to mislead the leadership.

He also found fault with the TPCC for organising a public meeting in Munugode the next day after the resignation of MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy.

The State leadership should have waited for a few more days for conducting the meeting in Munugode instead of holding it hurriedly.

Shashidhar Reddy said the party leadership failed to woo Rajagopal Reddy who time and again said that he was planning to quit Congress because of problems in TPCC.
