Jubilee Hills by-poll: Kavitha to spoil BRS chances?

Jubilee Hills by-poll: Kavitha to spoil BRS chances?

If the speculations doing rounds in the Telangana political circles have to be believed, Telangana Jagruthi president K Kavitha is said to be contemplating an independent candidate in the upcoming Jubilee Hills bye-election.

According to sources, Kavitha, who recently resigned from the Bharat Rashta Samithi and her MLC seat, has turning her attention towards the by-election to Jubilee Hills seat, which has fallen vacant due to the sudden death of sitting BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath.

Sources said Kavitha has been holding consultations with key leaders to chalk out her strategy for the by-elections.

Since it is not possible to float a new party at this stage and immediately field a candidate on its behalf, she has decided to support an independent candidate.

Fuelling this speculation, former Jubilee Hills MLA P Vishnuvardhan Reddy, son of former Congress Legislature Party leader P Janardhan Reddy, met Kavitha on Monday and held discussions lasted for over half an hour.

Political circles are abuzz with speculation that Kavitha is weighing the option of fielding Vishnuvardhan Reddy as an independent in the Jubilee Hills bye-election and extend support to him.

However, speaking to the media after his meeting with Kavitha, Vishnuvardhan Reddy clarified that the interaction was purely on a personal note.

He explained that he had met Kavitha to extend an invitation to the Dasara festivities at Peddamma Temple at Jubiilee Hills.

He said he had handed over the official invite. Though he said there was no talk on the Jubilee Hills by-election, he did not deny having discussions with Kavitha on the present-day politics.

Adding to the buzz, there are also reports that Kavitha may use the upcoming Bathukamma festival celebrations to formally announce the name and flag of her political party, further intensifying political activity.
