Is KCR a demi-god of Telangana?

The reports that appeared in a Telugu daily about Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s picture being inscribed on the walls of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at Yadagirigutta (now known as Yadadri) has kicked up a big controversy.

The opposition leaders, particularly from the Congress and the BJP, pounced on the TRS chief for getting his images inscribed on the temple walls and pillars.

“How can he do that? Is he trying to portray himself as a 'Demi God' of Telangana state,” asked Telangana PCC leader G Narayan Reddy.

He said the expansion of Yadadri temple is being done with public money and not with the personal wallet of KCR.

“He must realise that he is just a public representative and not a king. No one can tamper with the santity of temples and equate themselves with Gods," he said.

PCC working president A Revanth Reddy said KCR had hurt the sentiments of crores of Hindus by getting his picture and that of his election symbol car on the temple walls.

“He is obviously promoting personality cult in Telangana and projecting himself as an emperor who had built temples,” he said.

BJP legislator T Raja Singh lashed out at the Telangana chief minister for insulting the Hindus with his image sculpted on the temple pillars.
