Hyderabad: Close on the heels of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao, who had promised to develop a Hollywood-style film city in Hyderabad in 2000 acres, his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu is also keen on developing the same in Visakhapatnam.
Naidu told a delegation of film personalities who called on him on Tuesday that the Andhra Pradesh government was also planning to develop the port city of Visakhapatnam as a hub for film industry-related activity.
He said Visakhapatnam, located on the east coast of the country, is endowed with picturesque locales which are a favourite destination for filmmakers to shoot their movies.
Film shootings happen regularly in the coastal districts of East and West Godavari neighboring Visakhapatnam.
The delegation of film personalities urged the Chief Minister to promote the film industry in Andhra Pradesh.
The Telugu film industry, which produces the highest number of films in the country, is currently headquartered at Hyderabad.
