The Congress leaders in Andhra Pradesh have made all arrangements for the Sunday’s public meeting at Guntur which would be addressed by party vice-president Rahul Gandhi, to fight for the cause of special category status to Andhra Pradesh, but heart-in-hearts, they are apprehensive as to how people would receive him.
The Congress leaders are already facing criticism from the TDP leaders for bringing in Rahul Gandhi. In fact, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked as to why Rahul was coming to AP.
“Is he coming to see if people of Andhra Pradesh are alive or dead after bifurcation?” he asked.
Secondly, the Congress leaders are raking up a dead issue – special category status, which even YSR Congress party has started ignoring.
It is highly unlikely that YSRC president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy would share the dais with Rahul Gandhi. So is the case with Jana Sena Party party president Pawan Kalyan.
And Rahul cannot get away without mentioning the reasons for bifurcation of combined state and extend an apology to the people of Andhra. Otherwise, he would have to face a lot of backlash from the people, say sources.
