With tears in eyes, Tummala quits TDP

Tummala Nageswara Rao, a prominent Kamma leader from Khammam and close confident of Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu, resigned from the party on Saturday.

Tummala quietly visited the party office on Saturday and sent his one-line resignation letter to Chandrababu Naidu.

He is all set to join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the presence of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao on September 5. Sources said he was in tears when he was scribbling his resignation.

Along with Tummala, Khammam district TDP president Kondabala Koteshwara Rao, Zilla Parishad chairperson Kavita, MLC Balasani and others also quit the TDP. Tummala reportedly held a meeting with his followers in his camp office over their political future.

Sources said Tummala is likely to get a cabinet berth in TRS Cabinet as KCR is learnt to have offered him one.

It is being stated that Tummala enjoys strong following and clout in the district and will join the TRS along with a sizeable number of district level leaders.
