Naidu To Quit If Telangana ACB Files FIR Naming Him

According to Mumbai Mirror, N Chandrababu Naidu could quit as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister if the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau files the supplementary FIR naming him as an accused in the sensational cash-for-vote scam.

Civil aviation minister PAshok Gajapathi Raju is Naidu's choice as interim chief minister, according to highly-placed sources.

The ACB, sources say, is gearing up to seek court permission on Monday or Tuesday to file the supplementary FIR.

On Sunday, Naidu held lengthy meetings with DGP JV Ramudu, the state intelligence chief and other senior officials at his residence - the third such instance in the last week.

According to sources, Naidu has informed PM Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah that Ashok Gajapathi Raju is a suitable replacement in the event of his resignation.

Naidu's brotherin-law Nandamuri Balakrishna, senior ministers K Narayana and Y Ramakrishnudu were among the names doing the rounds for the top post, but sources said Naidu has opted for Raju, a loyalist and a capable administrator.

Sources said that along with Naidu, a central minister and two TDP MPs would be named as accused in the supplementary FIR. The Telangana ACB had already made TDP Telangana MLA A Revanth Reddy the prime accused and arrested him along with two others on May 31.

Reddy was caught by the ACB offering Rs 50 lakh as advance for a total Rs 5 crore to Telangana's nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson to vote for the TDP candidate in the MLC election on June 1.
