Senior TDP leader and former minister Kodela Sivaprasada Rao will be new Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Assembly.
With the support of Leader of Opposition and YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, Kodela’s election for the post of Speaker may be unanimous.
A notification has been issued by Andhra Pradesh State Government to elect its Speaker. Deadline for filing nominations was set as June 19 till 5 pm. Name of new Speaker is likely to be announced on June 20 at about 9.25 am in the Assembly.
According to informed sources, TDP chief and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu preferred Sivaprasada Rao to head the august House.
Being a senior leader, he can tackle the main Opposition party being led by YSR Congress Party in AP Assembly.
Since Jagan Reddy is expected to be tough Opposition leader, Kodela’s name was said to be the apt to take on the things and set the house in right manner, TD sources said.
