
Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao has decided to continue “Arogya Sri,” the pet scheme of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
However, his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have decided to shelve the scheme and replace it with a new one.
According to Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Dr T Rajaiah, the Telangana Government would continue the Arogyasri health insurance scheme besides strengthening the 108 Emergency services.
Rajaiah, who also holds the Medical and Health portfolio, informed that the Arogyasri schemes would be strengthened further and all corporate hospitals would be asked to implement the scheme. He warned of action if the corporate hospitals refuse to implement the scheme.
Rajaiah also announced that the TRS Government would revive the lost glory of Osmania General Hospital and Gandhi Hospital too would be upgraded.
He said thousands of poor patients visit both the public hospitals and steps would be taken to improve the facilities on par with corporate hospitals.
He said prevention of seasonal diseases would be the priority in view of monsoon which would hit the State this month.
