Enough of sand drama, no permission to Babu!

Enough of sand drama, no permission to Babu!

No doubt there is a shortage of sand supply in Andhra Pradesh, a fact which chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy htageimself has admitted.

He has been regularly reviewing the situation and has assured that the crisis would blow over by this month end.

The opposition parties have already made a lot of noise over the sand shortage in the state. Jana Sena Party chief and actor Pawan Kalyan held a big rally in the name of “long march” at Visakhapatnam in which Telugu Desam Party leaders also participated.

And Bharatiya Janata Party also has taken up its own agitational programme in Vijayawada under the leadership of party’s state unit Kanna Lakshminaryana.

There is nothing more political mileage any political party can get from sand.

Yet, TDP president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu felt he is lagging behind Pawan Kalyan and Kanna Lakshminarayana.

So, he too has announced a one-day fast at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada on November 14 on the same issue of sand crisis in the state.

Naturally, the state government has decided that enough is enough. It has felt there is absolutely no need to repeat the same drama again and again and hence, it has denied permission for Naidu’s fast at Vijayawada in support of construction workers.

What is new that Naidu would highlight, except repeating what he has been saying all these days at the press conferences and in social media almost every day?

The government said the municipal stadium is meant for the government programmes and no other private programmes would be allowed there.

But, the TDP leaders say Naidu would definitely sit on one-day fast despite lack of permission from the police. They are now looking for another venue.
