Capital, HC To Be In Different Cities in Seemandhra

Union Minister Jayaram Ramesh addressed the media in Guntur and spelt out various developments that are likely to take place in the region in the coming days.

To begin with, he said the High Court would not be in the capital city of Seemandhra.

Similarly, important offices could be in different places, he indicated. While he said that an experts committee would be looking into these matters in detail, his announcement hints at the course of action Centre is likely to take.

He quoted the example of Madhya Pradesh, where the capital was in Bhopal, while the High Court was in Jabalpur. Similarly in Uttar Pradesh where Lucknow is the capital, the High Court is in Allahabad.

In 1953, when the Andhra State was formed, Kurnool was the capital city, while the High Court was in Guntur, he reminded. He said development would be spread through out the Seemandhra region.

Coming to the Krishna river board, Jayram Ramesh said it would be in Seemandhra while the Godavari river board would be in Telangana.

For now, almost all big educational institutions will remain in Hyderabad. He reiterated that as per the present Bill, educational opportunities will be provided as they were prior to bifurcation. He said two High Courts and two APPSCs will be in place soon.
