Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s move to join hands with Congress president Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Thursday has come as an excellent opportunity for the YSR Congress party to make some gains in the coming elections.
The people of Andhra Pradesh have dumped the Congress party lock, stock and barrel into the Bay of Bengal in 2014 elections to show their anger towards the grand old party for bifurcating the combined Andhra Pradesh.
Not a single Congress candidate won the elections to assembly and Lok Sabha and many of them had, in fact, lost their deposits.
Now with the TDP trying to infuse life into the Congress which is already dead, the people of Andhra will naturally be angry with it, as they still believe that the Congress has hurt their self-respect by dividing the state against their wishes. This will naturally be exploited by the YSRC in the coming elections.
It was evident from the statement of YSRC spokesman Ambati Rambabu on Thursday.
“Naidu has sought to join hands with the very party which has ditched people of Andhra Pradesh,” he said at a press conference.
“Naidu lacks courage and morals, as he stooped to such a level that he is willing to join hands with anyone to serve his purpose,” he said.
Political affiliations are common in politics but a party like TDP joining hands with Congress is weird as the Party emerged as an anti-Congress platform and the TDP leader’s latest move shows his raw opportunism, he said.
The YSRC leader indicated that the party would definitely expose the true colours of Naidu who cared a damn for the self-respect of the people of Andhra for his petty political gains.
