Nandamuri Suhasini, daughter of former MP and Telugu Desam Party politburo member late Nandamuri Harikrishna, is taking a plunge into the electoral battle from Kukatpalli in the Telangana assembly elections by filing her nominations on Saturday.
Suhasini is the first leader from the third generation of NTR family to contest the elections. Though TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s son Nara Lokesh is also from the third generation of NTR family, he has not contested the elections yet, but was made an MLC under the MLAs’ quota.
Now, the interesting question is whether Suhasini would get the support from her brothers – Junior NTR and Kalyan Ram, both sons of Harikrishna. Both of them have been staying away from party politics.
Especially, Junior NTR who campaigned for the TDP in 2009 assembly elections, was sidelined in the party after the party lost the polls.
Asked whether the two brothers would campaign for her in the coming elections, Suhasini said she would be able to talk about it only after her nomination.
Suhasini, however, said she had the support of her entire family. In fact, Harikrishna’s brother Nandamuri Ramakrishna introduced her to the media at her father’s residence.
“I have been evincing interest in politics right from my childhood, having drawn inspiration from her grandfather N T Rama Rao, father Harikrishna and uncles Balakrishna and Chandrababu Naidu,” she said.
She sought the blessings of the people of Telangana and said she would dedicate her life to the service of people of Telangana.
