Why is KCR meeting Modi again?

Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday evening in the name of discussing several pending issues of the state raised many eyebrows.

It was less than two months ago – on June 15 to be precise, that KCR had a lengthy meeting with the Prime Minister and presented a long list of issues pertaining to the state.

A couple of days later, he had one more occasion to chat with Modi on the occasion of Niti Ayog governing council meeting.

A few days later, KCR’s son and IT minister K T Rama Rao also got an appointment with the Prime Minister to discuss the issue of Information Technology Investment Region proposal.

Now, the TRS chief is meeting Modi again with a wish list of same old issues which he had discussed with him in the past.

Except the new zonal system bill, almost all the issues that figured in the earlier list – like declaration of Kaleshwaram project as a national project, sanction of Rs 20,000 crore grant for the same, bifurcation of high court, release of grants to the backward districts, allocation of defence lands for the state secretariat etc.. are again being raised in the latest memorandum.

It clearly shows KCR has something else on his agenda, and not these same old issue, to discuss with the Prime Minister.

May be, the TRS chief is trying to get closer to the BJP as the elections are fast approaching, to ensure defeat of the Congress party at any cost in Telangana.

The Congress leaders are alleging that KCR is also strongly lobbying with Modi to see that he is wriggle out of the pending CBI cases against him. Anything can happen in politics!
