Why Hasn't Naidu Visited Garagaparru?

Despite the social boycott of Dalits by the upper caste people in Garagaparru village of West Godavari district becoming a national issue, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu remained tight-lipped over the issue, let alone taking action against his party MLA who was responsible for the incident.

Leaders of almost all the political parties, including YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, visited Garagaparru and extended their solidarity to the Dalits who were subject to social outcast, besides trying to bring peace in the village.

But Naidu did not choose to visit the village and what is worse, there was no statement from him either.

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president N Raghuveera Reddy held Naidu responsible for the social boycott of Dalits by upper caste people at Garagaparru.

After interacting with Dalits of Christianpeta of the village, he said the Dalits had not got any assistance from the State government so far.

The PCC chief said the Telugu Desam government should have resolved the sensitive social issue long ago to avert disharmony between Dalits and upper caste people in the village.
