Everybody was talking about the absence of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan at the “Pratyeka Hoda Bharosa Sabha” (public meeting to must support for special category status to Andhra Pradesh) held by Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee at Guntur on Sunday.
The meeting was addressed by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and was attended by several senior Congress leaders, besides top opposition leaders of the country.
Almost all of them attacked TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and also Jaganmohan Reddy for allegedly compromising with the Centre on special category status. The absence of Jagan and Pawan had become a talking point at the meeting.
One Congress leader who conveniently skipped the Rahul Gandhi meeting was Rajya Sabha member and megastar K Chiranjeevi.
In fact, Chiranjeevi would have an added attraction to the meeting and there would have been more crowds at the public meeting, because he has returned to the film industry and has been drawing huge crowds.
But, the Congress leaders did not raise the issue of Chiranjeevi’s absence and it is not known whether they made any attempt to invite him to the meeting.
Though it is said Chiranjeevi could not attend the public meeting because of his busy shooting schedule, people felt he could have attended the meeting since special category status was an important issue.
May be Chiranjeevi has decided to keep away from politics and concentrate on films that would fetch him more popularity. Once his Rajya Sabha term is over next year, he might quit politics forever!
